Quickish update on all the goings on lately, of which there are many. Let us begin.
First, I’m happy to announce that the hardcopy edit (yep, the very old school print-the-whole-thing-and-self-edit-with-a-pencil stage) is complete!

Moving on to the next draft now, with still a good chunk of narrative left to add and some character quirks before wrapping it in a pretty bow and sending it off for a proper edit. Glad to be at this stage, although much work remains. Primarily, you know, making it good. Nonetheless, things are moving along in the strange and funny world of Farlight and I can’t wait to finally put it across the finish line.
Recently, WriteOnJoliet, my local writing group, held their annual anthology release event at the beautifully renovated downtown Joliet Public Library. I was glad to be in attendance peddling my wares (not really, though I did have my books for sale, which are also now actually in the library, so yay!), but more importantly, I have two chapters in this year’s excellent anthology. It’s a wholesome read filled with dozens of stories from terrific local authors. Check it out here.

In other developments, there are some potential partnerships in the works with a couple area bookstores! (Can’t say which ones yet…) This exciting endeavor should hopefully result in these wonderful stores carrying mine and other local authors’ books, as well as hosting author events, singings, and all sorts of other promos and possibly shenanigans. Stay tuned on all.
Currently, I’m also doing a beta read on what so far is going to be a terrific upcoming release (can’t spoil anything, sorry), and over the last few months have read an impressive group of spooky season books that are well worth checking out, namely:
Legend Has It by DJ Slater
Play Nice by Rachel Harrison
The House of a Hundred Whispers by Graham Masterton
Vengeance Express by Riley Sager
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
Through the Midnight Door by Katrina Monroe
From Below by Darcy Coates
The Last Heir to Blackwood Library by Hester Fox
Snow by Ronald Malfi
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree (not a horror book, but still great.)
As always, thanks for reading my drivel. More to come.
